Win a $75 Estate Sale Shopping Spree!

I created this cozy, Easter tablescape using hand-crafted details and vintage finds I scored from Everything But the House’s online estate sales. Get the details on how you can recreate the look at home and learn how you could win a $75 shopping spree of your own!

Vintage Easter Tablescape

I’ve always thought it takes a certain kind of tenderness to love shopping estate sales for items that with a little optimism and elbow grease, could become an heirloom piece with a story that will be told for generations to come. When I began shopping Everything But the House years ago, I was drawn to the idea of taking in those little hidden treasures and helping them find new purpose, and eventually that turned into a writing gig. You can catch my weekly blog for Everything But the House here.

When my friends at EBTH challenged me to create an Easter tablescape, I was inspired by that tenderness and love of broken things to create this “lost but now found” tablescape. The table was once in pretty bad shape but after a careful paint job and stenciling, it has become a beautiful place for my family to gather. I have decorated with little things that may have been overlooked in sales and have certainly gone unused for years, packed away in boxes or rusting in hardware drawers. What better way to celebrate Easter than gathering with loved ones amongst lost things that have been found and lovingly given a second chance at shining? Here’s how you can recreate the look:

 Shop for classic white dishes.

One way to dress your table on a budget is to shop for classic, white dishes. Not only will you be able to reuse these through every season for years to come, you’ll also be able to “fake it til’ you make it” if you don’t have a full, matching set.

Give stuffy silverware a cozy make-under.

This vintage set of Oneida Lilac Time silverware is a little too dressy for my tastes but tucked away in a burlap bag, they look more pearls-with-jeans, which suits me just fine.

Invest in heirloom details.

Wooden Easter Eggs

I don’t like to store a lot of seasonal decorations so I shopped EBTH for something that would be more special than artificial grass, plastic eggs and cute-for-a-minute décor. This beautiful set of hand-carved wood eggs will be treasured for years and I snagged the entire set for just $12!

Add character with craft store staples.

An inexpensive lot of ordinary chargers creates a statement thanks to a pack of chipboard letter stickers. I’ve spelled out a line from “Amazing Grace” but you could put the names of your guests or a favorite quote.

Repurpose vintage kitchen items.

I won these vintage Jello molds for less than $5 and used them to display the wooden eggs and pretty (grocery store) cupcakes. Vintage spoons tucked into a small cake create the look of whimsical bunny ears.
